Why better flour?
Flour from an Astrié stone mill is made from the whole grain. The Astrié milling system allows you to roll and finely grind the flour.
The flour is no longer crushed by the weight of the millstones, but is rolled out very finely between the millstones.
This unrolling of the seed changes everything, because by unrolling the seed, your mill will retain the germ and its kernel and will then extract the husk of the wheat grain (the bran).
So, in your flour, you’ll find the germ of the seed and the whole kernel. The only thing that will be extracted is the wheat kernel husk, i.e. the bran.
By recovering the germ of the grain and its kernel, you obtain a very high quality, highly valuable flour.

Do you want to transform?
Are you a farmer or baker who wants to add value to your production by processing it in such a way as to showcase your local flour? The Astrié stone mill that we manufacture at Astréïa is the answer.
Who is Astréia?
Astréïa is a company that manufactures Astrié type stone mills. The mills we make give you the best quality flour.

Why can we say you’ll get the best flour?
When the germ is preserved, all the nutritional qualities of the cereal are preserved.
Your flour will be more digestible and nutritious.
Your customers will even ask you if you’ve changed your cereal because they’ll find a more subtle, finer taste and will finally be able to digest the processed raw material.
When we talk about cereals, we’re talking about wheat, but you can also grind other types of cereal: barley, buckwheat, rye (…) as long as your cereal is sufficiently dry.
To find out more, we’ve written an article entitled ‘Which cereals can I unwind in an Astrié mill?’.
You can, of course, choose to adjust the spacing between the millstones to obtain the optimum spacing for grinding your chosen cereal.

Local cereal + Astréia mill, real added value
At the end of the mill, you’ll find a very fine, nutritious flour, which will really enhance the value of local produce through, for example, ancient wheats or little-known varieties.
