We’re often asked the question: should I choose an Astrié type stone mill with a diameter of 50cm or 1m?
The first question to ask yourself is how many kilos of flour you’re going to need. At Astréïa, we currently manufacture an Astrié-type stone mill with a diameter of 50cm. In our jargon, we call it the ‘small model’.

A question of yield
With a ‘small model’ stone mill of the Astrié type, you will have an output of around 15 kilos of flour per hour.
With the ‘large model’, you’ll get 30 kilos of flour per hour.
The quantity of wheat and flour required
If you feed your mill continuously, with the ‘small model’, you will have around 300 kilos of flour per 24 hours. That’s 1 and a half tonnes of flour per 5-day week, or around 6 tonnes per month.
Today, Astréïa manufactures mills of various sizes.
