Reconnecting with the roots of your childhood
In the early 2010s, after an initial career path that took him far from French farmland, Jean-Marie XIMENA (founder of Astreïa) decided to return to his roots and the land of his childhood.
He came to the bitter conclusion that farming was in decline and that the wheat-flour-bread industry was in a precarious situation, caught between quality and production volumes. The CAP (Common Agricultural Policy) and its regulatory constraints, competition from major players and the fear of innovation exacerbate the difficulties encountered.
Convinced that another, more sustainable and autonomous model was possible for the agricultural world, Jean-Marie became fully involved in the sector, training successively in farm management and baking. It was then that he discovered the invention of brothers Pierre and André Astrié: an exceptional stone mill, simple and respectful of the raw material and of an agricultural heritage.

Convinced by the potential, Jean-Marie decided to start manufacturing Astrié mills, initially to meet his own needs as a cereal grower and baker, but quickly with the vision of enabling the entire industry to benefit from this innovation. This is how Astreïa came into being, and how our mission to be the instigator of a radical change in the model of the wheat-flour-bread industry became a reality.
Today, at Astreïa, we develop solutions to meet the challenges you face as a professional. But our real strength lies in our expertise in the sector as a player (farmer, cereal grower, miller, baker) and in our commitment to our customers. We support each of you in setting up an innovative and sustainable model, enabling professionals to earn a fair income while enjoying greater freedom and a better life.
