Moulin Astréia: which options for my project? 2 September 2024

The Moulin Astréïa is a stone mill of the Moulin Astrié type. Here we take a look at the options available: additional sieves for different flours using the same mill, translucent walls for staging the mill as a shop or educational farm, 220 V electricity, etc.

Moulin Astréia: which options for my project?

What is an Astrié mill?

The special feature of the Astrié mill is that it unwinds the seed without crushing it. The rotating grinding wheel turns on an oscillating system, and it is this system that unwinds the grain rather than crushing it under its own weight.

What does the ‘Moulin Complet Astréïa’ include?

  • the mill (millstones, hopper, frame, etc.)
  • the bluttery (flour collection box)
  • the sieve for fine flour (T80 equivalent)
  • the shovel to extract the flour from the sieve box

What are the possible options for your project?

Automatic extraction (extracting flour automatically)

On the Astréia mill, automatic extraction consists of an endless screw located at the bottom of the sifting chamber, which mixes the flour and extracts it from the sifting chamber. This saves you the time spent removing the flour by hand.

Bagging (automatic bagging)

Bagging is an option on the Astréia mill that automatically bags your flour. This option is ideal if you want to leave the mill running while you’re busy with another task.

The bagging ramp can bag up to 5 bags.

At Astréia, this option is combined with automatic extraction. The flour has to be extracted from the sifting chamber before it can be automatically bagged.

A sensor stops the mill when all 5 bags are full.

Additional screens

Depending on your project and milling objectives, we can provide one or more additional sieves.

Your mill is supplied with a 300 micron sieve (T80 flour equivalent). You can also opt for a :

  • 470 microns (T110 equivalent flour)
  • 600 microns (T130 equivalent flour)
  • tailor-made to suit your milling requirements

Of course, we’ll advise you before you buy on the sieve or sieves you need to achieve your specific objectives. You can even choose to order a sieve in several months’ time if your project does not require a different sieve from the one included in your complete mill.

220V power supply

Depending on your electrical installation, Astréïa can provide you with a 220Volt supply if this is necessary to install the mill in your farm, business or bakery.

Exclusive to Astréia: translucent walls in the archway (see the millstones turning)

The translucent walls can be used to showcase the mill and explain how you make your flour and how the mill works. A popular option with bakers, farmer-bakers and educational farms, the translucent arch allows you to show how the millstones turn. You’ll be able to pass on to your visitors your knowledge of how the grain is made.

Exclusive to Astréia: translucent walls in the sieving room (see the flour falling down)

In the same way, you can show your visitors how grain is transformed into flour. The translucent wall of the sieving machine will allow them to see the flour falling into the hopper. They’ll see the whole grain circuit: the grain stored in the hopper, the grain passing between the millstones and emerging as flour.
